fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-FLABULOUS

every pw meeting turns into a reflecting, soul-searching session.
it's not a bad thing, in itself. it's just that we tend to, you know, spend 2 hours reflecting and 1 hour doing actual work.

i stand my ground that pacifists are not weak. i don't see why the whole world should change to suit your lifestyle.
and i don't see why you can't give in a little.
besides, what defines a normal lifestyle anyway! (society, but people are straying more and more from the norm.)
who are you to say: my way of living is correct and the world shall conform!
i'm not suzumiya, come on.

my parents are quite worried about the fact that i think that there's nothing wrong with homosexuality and that sleeping at 5 am is perfectly acceptable.

(disclaimer: not wrong does not mean natural, neither does it mean i encourage it. and it's normal sleeping, mind you.)

the electone guy is coming tomorrow and MY LA KEY (in the spirit of solfege use in electone) IS GOING TO BE FIXED! after about ... 1 FREAKING YEAR! using the lower key as a substitution! and switching upper and lower keyboards just so that my songs won't sound mangled! and playing mangled repertoire for 1 year! NEW NOAH ON THE BLOCK

spoilers for dgray 187.

NOAH~~~

THE NOAH RETURN!

more importantly,
TYKI IS BACKKKKKKK!
with cool hair this time!

LOL they just waltz in like nothing happened at all and half of them didn't get finished off by one exorcist or another the last time.

ALSO,
NEW NOAH. :D

do pardon the skull. the one without is a gay shade of purple.

I LOVE THIS GUY :D:D:D
AND HIS SCARF :D:D:D
IT MAGICALLY STAYS ON HIS HEAD AND FLIES ABOUT :D:D:D
BUT I DON'T KNOW HIS NAME. D:

yesss i'm glad skin is dead and gone. he never really uttered any intelligible things throughout his appearance.

the hakushaku is HORNY.

JASDEBI are BACK TOO! they all got extreme makeovers!

want the next chapterrrrrr.
hope hoshino-sensei doesn't fall sick again.

tried lostage on gecko and jane today and they approve. :D
my music taste is not weird after all!
lostage's stuff is really really interesting.
i haven't developed the taste for airy singing and screaming, though. not sure i want to. XD

AMPLIFIED TEENAGE STRESSES AND STRAINS

(i really like that title, although the actual song's a mess. it's so ... apt.)

went to school for 12 hours today.

had lessons/ mitochondrial DNA workshop for 3+ hours. and that's including PW. which was ... fei.

what was i doing, you wonder. =.=

reading room - good.
campbell textbook - interesting. i think it's more comprehensive than the notes, seriously. and it cleared up a lot of misconceptions i didnt even know i had. AND FULL COLOUR PICTURES. O:
gosh, gushing about a textbook. see what state school reduces you to. ;.;

i think lessons make you fall asleep.
did less than i should have, but still it's a start. oh, next year will be hell.
I AM GOING TO ROT OFF THE DECEMBER HOLIDAYS WHEN THEY COME, i tell you. and i am NOT bringing homework to japan.

(ok maybe.)

learnt a lot of phoenetics stuff today! XD
だって、4 hours with a bunch of ell mugging people making gutteral sounds.
it was quite amusing.

what are my hobbies? ...
more like, where have they gone?
last time i used to have more distinct hobbies.
now, it's reading, singing, music, stuff a thousand other people like.
no fun.

i was also thinking about how i claim to know a lot of things, but actually i don't know any of them well enough. kind of hypocritical, really.

don't want the holidays.
holidays = start holeing up at home and studying.
don't want.

parents grudgingly say okay (they go on about how parents always end up suffering in the end while i whisk off and have fun). have to plan hosting properly! so they won't be so 委屈!
i know i've been some kind of crappy slug at home. T.T must do something. hope they don't change their mind!

:DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

people are going to hate me for this! but I DON'T CARE~

IMCB picspam part 2!

don't click if you don't like bio and flies and worms!

got some more photos! these are really just spamming photos.

cool machines first.

centrifuge machine.

microscopes.

the vortex that all the secondary school people are addicted to. you get a nice tornado when you vortex distilled water!

imba microscope. the lens are at the bottom.

incubator, the pipette tubes sit in the small squares.

another incubator. the floaters were shaped like chromosomes. :D

oh this is very cool. it's a touch-activated bunsen burner! so you just wave your hand over the sensor and piak! the fire comes on.

inside of the centrifuge. someone didn't position his pipette tube cap properly and it broke in one of these. loud noises from the centrifuge = bad.

the giant rotors of the centrifuges in the centrifuge room.

THIS is plastered over the lift interiors.

ah, another cool contraption. this door (yes, it's a door!) leads to the dark rooms where work with light-sensitive films goes on. you get in, turn the door and the gap opens to the dark rooms! (it's to keep the light out.) the dark rooms are pitch dark and very cool.

asphyxiation - when there's not enough oxygen/ too much nitrogen. and then you'll be like that stickman, there.

the corridor leading to the labs.

outside of the lab. the door there is cool!

it opens on touch! so you wave at it, again, and it opens! we had quite a bit of fun with this.

SCAN TO OPEN. it's very sensitive and opens sometimes when you walk past it. not good when it's other people's lab. but i think they're used to it anyway.

general interior of our lab. the messiness is very comfortable.

FLIES!!! oh yes i forgot to put in the warning sign. these are drosophilia melanogaster fruit flies. :DDDD they're kept in the tiny bottles with a layer of food agar at the bottom. if you flick the bottles, they swarm around.

like this.
they dump the dead flies into this bottle with alcohol, looks like fly wine. O.o

glucose solutions from the stores. researchers actually have to buy them with their own money, poor thing.

ahh this is the biochem textbook that our lecturers kopped all the diagrams from. now you know.

view from the sky bridge.

the sky bridge itself. (took group photo here.)

BONUS:

MORE WORMS!

can you see them? these were the ones that reproduced so they're smaller.

yes this is a very good photo of them!

that's all.

the really interesting things about imcb are learning about the experiments and talking crap during waiting times, though.

well, it was fun while it lasted!

wow, i'm actually posting about shopping! o.O

ion + isetan, because it was quite fun.

mentioned uniqlo to my parents. and we whisked off to ion immediately after that.

ion is ... normal. okay, maybe the top 4 floors are not, but i haven't seen them.
there are some interesting shops (like uniqlo~) and the architecture is very very good. there are a lot of stores i've never heard of before. and a lot of jap brands. like muji ryouhin.

anyway main point was uniqlo and the gundam shirts. :D

they're past seasons' designs, so i don't recognize anything/ anybody except for haro. but owning one is still cool! plus they're on discount!
(and they sell checkered leggings! :D my parents obviously thought i was mental.)

and this is weird - there was this random cosplayer walking around the store. some nekomimi. with red hair. and eyepatch.

uniqlo's other shirts are nice too! and the cutting is nice.
why are singaporean departmental stores so boring!
nevermind. uniqlo is in singapore now.

this was the wall design for some shop's display. it's nice. ^^
cranes will be the next thing i learn to draw.

shot of ion's exterior. well, you can always go down to see for yourself.

some angmoh tourists were trying to take a photo with this, to look like they were relieving themselves. it was rather amusing, because the guy had to wait until the water came out.
anyhow, it's an ingenious photo idea. XD

got bored of ion after a while so we ended going to isetan (again at my request.)

bought fish flakes and wakame miso soup and shabu shabu sauce and jap mayo!

:DDDDDDD

half of the promoters were jap people and i was itching to go talk to them. and the singaporeans do an acceptable "irrashaimase."
so shuang!
amazing place.

IMCB picspam!

here goes. er ... don't click if you're freaked out by microscopic worms and bacteria. or if you can't stand bio. XD

on these plates are tiny bacteria colonies that turn purple when they contact the stuff we are interested in. it's not as purple as i would have liked, though. (there's only one purple colony, dammit! but i'm proud of my agar cutting. :D)

these are our mutant colonies! (i think. can't see the label.) pretty separate colonies. :D
oh and i know i'm weird but i like the smell of LB/ bacteria. which smells like chicken essence. oh well. everyone else thinks it stinks.

WORMS!!!!!

c. elegans, to be exact.
took these by pointing the camera at the microscope lens. it was very difficult ok! huimin managed to do it in the end.
they crawl around pretty fast and are really fascinating, as jane says.
er, so we cultured them to kill them off with protease. XD yet we're not allowed to centrifuge them because it's causing "unnecessary pain" to them and its against animal activists' morals. whatever.

more worms!!!!! i think this one's dead.

our doodling board which they're going to tack on the noticeboard outside the lab. it's probably the messiest so far. and the one with most nonsense. there's a hc logo if you squint! and a centrifuge and pipette and the biosensor petri dish if you squint harder!

i love the way they let us use the microscope without asking. actually that applies to pretty much most things. :D

nice messy benchtop with reagents arranged in alphabetical order. beat that, src!

lovely yellow biohazard bag where we threw all our plates in. T.T

did you guys know these contain liquid nitrogen? O.o

there is part 2 coming because these are only the photos from huimin's camera! there's still wan jane's!

:D

IMCB highly recommended. besides, i think it'll make me feel so guilty for slacking off for 3 days that i'll go and study properly from now on.

posting from IMCB!

it's after lunch and i'm slacking!...
forgot to bring homework.

the computers here have huuuuge screens.

the experiments are interesting and we get to culture bacteria!
yesterday was growing c. elegans and doing that selection thing (similar to the tetracycline resistance thingy taught in sec 4, rmb?). today we're centrifuging stuff. (someone's cap for the tube broke off in the centrifuge.) and there're things involving bacteria that will turn purple.

:D ok that was just for my reference.

-edit-
HAHA our "teachers", the lab biologists, both watch anime! XD
one naruto and the other one piece. the one piece one was watching ep 100 during lunch. XD
i think half of all researchers do this kind of geek stuff. :D

also, there was this biochemistry textbook lying around in the workstations.
all the drawings inside looked familiar.
because they were frikkin used in our notes. =.= from bio o to cell structure and function.

i love shena and jean they're so responsible! :D thank you thank you. due to their high efficiency the new bio notes are now sitting on my table.
and i just realized that they are highly relevant to what i'm doing now. =.= all the bacteria repro.

--

seems like i missed a lot of epicness yesterday! >< and probably more today and tomorrow as well. and all the catching up to do. (huimin is near me doing homework as i type.)

ja.

imcb was immensely fun! except that i lacked sleep and had a headache. (it's still around, as a matter of fact.)
i've never seen anything move under a microscope before! fascinating.
and bio o notes helped. (:
and i love the labs and the wealth of equipment.

why is everyone daoing me when i am trying to ask them to do important stuff!

and the 3 days of school i'm missing will come back to haunt me!

went to yiran's place to do pw.

spent half the time crapping and playing cards and talking about people and life and school and class stuff.

well, it was great fun. our pw group dynamics are entertaining.

2. ライトダンス
3. セントレイ
4. ネイティブダンサー

5. minnanouta
6. 雑踏

7. 黄色い車
8. enough
9. 涙ディライト

10. アドベンチャー
11. human

well i'm sure nobody will be interested in this. it's too ulu le lah!
but still, you should be! if you're looking for new stuff, you can stay on.

because this album is good.

sakanaction with their latest album, shinshiro.
sakanaction, first and foremost, plays a blend of rock, electronica, and i am told, club and house music. it's nothing i have ever listened to before. the more important thing is that their music is SUPER ADDICTIVE. the tunes stick in your head for hours.
impressions from PVs: the lead singer is really really cool. in that he seems to own every piece of music he sings, and drawls his parts in the most delicious way :D, how he's expressionless all the time (ah, aim of all decent bands), and it's just cooooool. additional bonus: he can really sing! i was converted immediately. must go find out what's his name.

down to it!

Ame (B) opens with the whole band going "A-ME" in harmony. oh that's another thing i like about them - ALL of them can sing and it's wonderful when they sing in 5 parts (i think). it's like having an acapella band! :DDD anyway though it's the intro it still managaed to lodge itself in my head, after only 2 or 3 times. the lyrics are simple, all sung in chorus, and the main star is all the electronica, which is weird and wonderful in its own way. haven't been listening to this much, though.

ライトダンス is a wacky song. i don't know how to place it. it sounds distinctively chinese, somehow, and the verses are ... jumpy. however, the chorus is pure gold: there's this line repeated 4 times and sung in octaves (でも明日が見えなくて) and the melody of the chorus is amazing, really. plus lead-san sings it like "oh, this is a piece of cake" which sounds amazing as well. the middle part after that is weird, but then the chorus comes and nullifies everything else. i could play that chorus on loop for a whole day.

セントレイ lives up to its name - i can see why it got #1 on oricon. everything about it is perfect. my favourite part is the 2nd verse, where there's this synthesised choir going papapapapapaapapaapapaa and it's niceeeeeeeeeeee! the other electronica stuff go well with the melody, too. and then the chorus is a big mass of all the motifs, and generally pleasing. altogether, you get a song which makes you want to put on repeat and don't mind hearing over and over again. absolute favourite.

ネイティブダンサー
is another favourite. lead sounds really good here in the start. the pv is just him dancing with this pair of glow-in-the-dark nike shoes, but he pulls it off because he's cool enough. the chorus is so-so and the best thing about this song is the verses. i think this is the song that made me go crazy over the lead's voice.

minnanouta is an instrumental which is a little messy and which i don't really dig, so. there's the sound of an office in the background. its not in my mp3 because estate space is scarce. interestingly, it was composed by the whole band. which is why it's called minnanouta (everyone's song). =.=

雑踏 starts off with the same background noise as minnanouta, and turns into verses with monotone guitars and a not-bad melody. i like how the bass enters, very late into the song. then some guitar wails and the chorus starts, which is quite nice and bouncy. the verses are a bit too long but the chorus makes up for it. and then there's this wild rock part after the chorus that i like, though it's just "woah, woah, woah~".

黄色い車 - hmm this is the opposite. it starts out nicely with interesting accompaniment, and an interesting verse. then the chorus is kind of screwed, i don't like it. it's a very happy song then the chorus is just random twisting of notes. i listen to it for the intro and verses.

enough is enough. haha. enough is a 2-part song. the intro is quiet and ballad-like, i like the way the lead goes "uso desu ... ka, uso desu." it's wandering and sounds like someone pondering something. then comes the 2nd part which is this upbeat tune with 2 chords which makes you bob your head in time and where the voices go "uwaaaaaa" (really!) and which is also playable for hours. i remembered it for a week after i first heard it. after that there's this wild rock part again where the chords are weird (good weird), then back to the uwaaaaa part which is laced with new electronica motifs, then it dies off and returns to the ballady part. i like~

涙ディライト is a piece with a pop feel, what i really like about this are the 2 motifs in the intro which continue on throughout the song. the melody is groovy, there's no other word for it. i tire easily of the chorus, though. another song to make people dance.

アドベンチャー is really interesting. i think this is closest to club/techno music in the whole album. the beats are heavy and there's the syncopated rhythm. the verses are delightful, the composing, and the chorus is good as well, just that the bass is very heavy and not good when you are having a pounding headache. nice song to let off steam and scrub your brain blank.

last song, human. human is my second favourite. it's almost completely rock. (haven't forgotten my roots!) the intro has a piano and guitar playing in thirds respectively and together. the effect is an intriguing melody that has taken me weeks to catch. (still haven't completely figured it out yet.) then the verses are sung in octaves again (my favourite, what's more i think the other person in one of the girls!). the chorus is ... rending? maybe a bit emo, and the drums again a little too heavy for my liking, but sakanaction knows how far to go before the listener gets irritated (not like ajikan who can get carried away sometimes). so the effect is muted and catchy. plus nice harmonies after the last chorus. nice nice nice.

i'm not sure how others would take this album (my weird taste in the works), but i find it irresistable and super catchy. definitely will see (or hear) more of this band in the future! I LOVE THE LEAD SINGER'S VOICE I SWEAR.
i'm starting to draw a lot of fishbones around school. need to go and find more sakanaction fans!

thankful to NANO-MUGEN COMPILATION for getting me into this band.

i think i'll do UVERworld next. NEW SINGLE WOOHOOOOOOO!

全巻までのあらすじ

national day celebrations were really lame.

maybe they're saving money for MAF.

hbp with my sis!

sectumsempra!

well, it was alright.

the guys are all so ugly now. /: malfoy looks half dead. (but he's supposed to.) and not enough emotion!

dumbledore was great! especially the part in the cave where he unleashed fire on the inferi! it made me go hoo yeah and grin stupidly in my seat. it's one of the rare scenes that actually lived up to my imagination. which is difficult because it very very seldom happens.
snape was great too but that's just because i have a new bias.
OH how could i forget SLUGHORN WAS EPIC! never really liked him but he's really good here.

all the *romance* stuff were done weirdly. totally unlike the original.

the graphics have gotten better, though, notably at the beginning. and tom riddle ... the actor seems to have changed! ...

after the movie i went home and immediately read my favourite parts of the book for 2 hours.

sigh there was a beng and his girlfriend sitting behind us.
his phone rang twice and being a beng, he just daoed it.
and after that it kept vibrating and he daoed it.
plus his girlfriend kept whining.
STUPID.
RESPECT THE WORK OF ART or DON'T WATCH!
=.=
i totally wanted to turn around and throw his phone at him.

yay people like the rainbow laces. :D when i first bought the shoes i thought they were very AA, though.

pah-pah-pahpah-pahPAH-paPAH-paPAH

recovered from what was probably H1N1. (come on, almost everybody's got it already. and to think i emailed my host to tell her to beware of H1N1. singapore is too shibai.)

felt the greatest i have in the past 6 months for a while after, then back into the normal sian~ schedule. and i think i made jieqi sick. (and my dad too.)

bio o is trying to make me feel stressed. sigh.
i would gladly devote all my time to it if i didn't have to do math, and GP, and PW, suchlike. =.=
their practicals are so much better too. no rushing around timing things and mixing solutions. microscopy! dissections! i like.

leaving you lyrics for sentorei by sakanaction.

need to find more people who like the same stuff as meeeeee! ):
